It has been a big week for Ford and alternative powertrain commercial vehicles. Earlier it showed a hybrid Explorer police vehicle called the Police Interceptor Utility Hybrid. Now the company is showing off taxis, including its first Fusion Hybrid Taxi, along with a diesel-powered Transit Connect Taxi. The 2019 Fusion Hybrid Taxi, aside from being the first of its kind offered by Ford, is also interesting because it uses parts from the Ford Police Responder Hybrid. Yes, Ford went Blues Brothers on its latest taxi. Specifically, it has cop suspension and cop brakes that are more durable. The former adds some more ride height, perfect for potholed city streets whether they're in Detroit or New York. Ford also expects it to have roughly the same fuel economy as the Police Responder, which is 40 mpg in the city, 36 on the highway, and 38 in combined driving. The other relatively frugal taxi offering from Ford is the 2019 Transit Connect Taxi, which will be offered with the new 1.5-liter diesel four-cylinder. That engine makes 120 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque, the latter of which should be quite handy dicing it up with dense city traffic. Fuel economy isn't as impressive as the Fusion Hybrid, with an estimate of 30 mpg on the highway, but that still puts it as the most efficient version of the little van. It also retains all of its van practicality. Ford is currently taking orders for the Fusion Hybrid Taxi, and it will take orders for the Transit Connect a little later. Both will be available by the end of the year.Automotive Cars News, ford, ford fusion, ford motor company, hybrid, ford transit, 2019 ford raptor, taxi, fusion hybrid, ford fusion hybrid, detroit, ford how-to guide, 2019 ford edge st, 2019 ford edge, 2016 ford ranger price, 2017 ford ranger price, new ford ranger usa, 2019 ford bronco price, 2019 ford ranger release date, 19 ford bronco, ford ranger msrp 2017, 2019 ford ranger raptor price, use of fanbelt, engine fan belt, fanbelt, engine fanbelt, fan belt, techtrixinfo, car, ford car, fordowner.com, ford owner help, ford owner tips, ford owner guide, 2019 ford mustang, ford how-to, how to install auto lock, auto lock installation, how to ford, how to car, how to vehicle
Mercedes has a lot of sweet new toys to play with right now, from the new G-Wagen to the AMG GT four-door, but it hasn't forgotten about its other toys, including one of its oldest. It announced some minor updates for its SLC-Class roadster for 2019, a car that hasn't seen a complete redesign since 2012. The standard SLC300 gets some new standalone options, such as ambient lighting, blind spot monitoring, and an analog dash clock, but the SLC43 gets the good stuff. It gets a power boost. The 2019 Mercedes-AMG SLC43 now makes 385 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged V6. That's an increase of 23 horsepower over last year's model. This also helps bring it closer to the old V8-powered version. No torque changes were mentioned, so the engine likely still makes 384 pound-feet of torque or thereabouts. In addition to the healthy power boost, the SLC43 also gets standard dual-zone automatic climate control and LED headlights with adaptive high beams. Pricing for the little Mercedes roadster has not been announced. Odds are that the pricing won't change much from the $49,395 for the SLC300 and $62,345 for the SLC43. Availability hasn't been revealed either. But it's safe to say the updated models will appear on lots by the end of the year.Automotive Cars News, mercedes, amg, slc, 2019, cars, roadster, 43, car, review, interior, slk, biturbo, g63, suv, drive, sound, benz, mercedes slc, 2018, mercedes slc updated for 2018, update, mercedes-benz, test drive, v6, mercedes benz, new, convertible, automobile, premiere, gt, como, funny, scoope, truck, launch, 4x4, sport, carros, youtube, autos

The elusive 2020 Cadillac CT5 luxury sports sedan has once again been spotted by a spy photographer. This time, we get to see it from all angles, whereas last time we only saw it from the front. It still has quite a bit of fake body work, and it's very clear Cadillac still hopes you'll think this is a Charger, from the big hood scoop to the fake full-width taillights. Digging past those misdirects, we can find some new details about the car. First, the car's front lighting has developed further. There are production-ready headlights fitted that appear to have some sort of LED illumination. These production lights also fit the shape we saw on the last prototype, so they'll end high up on the body, extending slightly horizontally toward the grille. There's still a section that extends back along the fender, seeming to bridge the gap between current Cadillacs and the Escala concept from which this car takes inspiration. Another addition are the vertical LED accent lights. This is another trademark feature of both current Cadillacs and the Escala, but they were absent from the last prototype we saw. We also get a look at some of the grille's details. Instead of slats, this CT5 has a plastic mesh of small rectangles. The pattern is reminiscent of brickwork. These photos also give us our first look at the back of the CT5. It looks like a fairly typical Cadillac. It's much more conservative than the front end. There are some angular cutouts in the bumper to allow exhaust gases out. The taillights have the current Cadillac look with the top curving over the rear fender. We can't tell if there will be a horizontal element like on the Escala, due to the fake lights. We're expecting the CT5 to be shown sometime next year in time for the 2020 model year. Odds are it will use off-the-shelf Cadillac engines including the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6, and the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6. Now that Cadillac has revealed its twin-turbo 4.2-liter V8, we'll be interested to see if that shows up in a future CT5-V.Automotive Cars News, cadillac ct5, cadillac, 2020 cadillac ct5, cadillac ct5 coupe, 2020 cadillac, cadillac ct5 review, cadillac ct5 2020, cadillac xt5, cadillac ct5 2017, 2019 cadillac ct5, cadillac ct5 commercial, carengine, 2019 cadillac, cadillac ct5 2018, 2020 cadillac escala suv, cadillac ct5 2016, 2020 cadillac escalade, car news, 2020 cadillac escala, cadillac escala, cadillac ct5 2019, cadillac ct5 spy shots, spy shots, auto car magz, 2020, 2020 escala, 2020 cadillac xt5 spied, top auto news, cadillac ct5 release date, spy, xt5, acrmagz, exterior, autocarmagz, suv, review, cadillac ct5 price, new, 2019 cadillac ct6, cadillac escalade esv
It makes sense: One company makes ultra-desirable performance cars and has ambitious plans for electric powertrains. The other company makes ultra-desirable and rare supercars that happen to already have electric powertrains. So Porsche announced Wednesday that it has bought a 10 percent stake in Croatian sports car company Rimac Automobili.
In addition to its supercars, Rimac builds EV powertrain components and battery systems, so Porsche isn't just investing. It hopes to create a development partnership for EV technology, an area of business that founder Mate Rimac has planned to grow for some time now.
Porsche meanwhile is full speed ahead, along with the rest of VW Group, toward hybrids and pure EVs such as the Taycan (nee Mission E), and is setting up a network of hundreds of fast chargers.
In less than 10 years, Rimac has built his company from a freshman effort in his own garage to a producer of some of the most exotic sports cars in the world. First came the Concept One, made most famous when "The Grand Tour" presenter Richard Hammond lost control of one and crashed it. Now Rimac is hard at work on the Concept Two, revealed earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. It's a grand tourer, but the scenery is going to be a blur: The C Two is promised to produce nearly 2,000 horsepower for a top speed of well over 250 mph.
Here's a photo Porsche provided of CEO Oliver Blume and Rimac sealing the deal:
Porsche's press release on its Rimac partnership points out some other significant numbers on the C Two, too — a range of 400 miles, and the ability to reach an 80 percent charge in 30 minutes from a 250 kW fast-charging system. Those are attributes Porsche is surely quite interested in.
"Rimac has impressively demonstrated its credentials in the field of electromobility," said Lutz Meschke, deputy board chairman at Porsche. "We feel that Rimac's ideas and approaches are extremely promising, which is why we hope to enter into close collaboration with the company in the form of a development partnership."
"This partnership now is an important step for Rimac on our way to become a component and system supplier of choice for the industry in electrification, connectivity and the exciting field of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems," Mate Rimac said.
Rimac has about 400 employees. In addition to cars and EV tech, it also produces a pretty cool e-bike we took a ride on, under its subsidiary Greyp Bikes.
