Ferrari 812 Superfast review: its 6.5-litre V12 is a masterpiece | British GQ

In Ferrari’s 70th year, it’s fitting that the company redefined the car that epitomises its allure: the front-engined V12 GT. In the Fifties and Sixties, it was this template that forged the Ferrari brand and the 812 Superfast (yes, it’s a silly name but there’s an antecedent in the shape of the 1964 500 Superfast Ferrari) is a timely reminder that there truly is no substitute for cubic inches (and 12 cylinders). There are no turbos here to interrupt the combustion process and the 812’s 6.5-litre engine, even from these Italian legends, really is a masterpiece. The rest of it is not bad, either. Available from £253,000.Subscribe to British GQ►► http://po.st/SubscribeBritishGQ Camera: Kris Anwar and Luca Lamaro Editing: Luca Lamaro Presenter: Jason Barlow CONNECT WITH BRITISH GQ Web: http://po.st/BritishGQ Twitter: http://po.st/TwitterBritishGQ Facebook: http://po.st/FacebookBritishGQ Google+: http://po.st/GoogleBritishGQ Instagram: http://po.st/InstagramBritishGQ Newsletter: http://po.st/NewsletterBritishGQ ABOUT BRITISH GQ British GQ is the premier channel for men’s style, lifestyle and entertainment. Ferrari 488 GTB - Powertrain

The 3902 cc power unit is the Prancing Horse's most high performance engine ever with zero turbo lag and a unique, seductive soundtrack. It delivers 670 cv at 8,000 rpm with a specific power output of 172 cv/l, a new record for a road-going Ferrari, maximum torque of 760 Nm in seventh gear and a throttle response time of just 0.8 seconds at 2000 rpm in third gear. Consequently, the 488 GTB sprints from 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds flat and from 0-200 km/h in just 8.3.
