Bergung eines 28 Tonnen Findlings (Gneis) bei Ostermunzel

Am 17. April 2015 wurde auf einem Feld bei Ostermunzel in der Region Hannover ein 27,5 Tonnen schwerer Gneis geborgen und zu seinem neuen Standort auf dem Mühlenberg transportiert. Dort wird das Naturdenkmal in unmittelbarer Nähe eines Radwanderweges ausgestellt. Die Bergung des ursprünglich auf 50 Tonnen geschätzten Findlings mit einem Umfang von zehn Metern sollte 15.000 € kosten. Bei dem Findling handelt es sich um einen Biotit-Gneis, der während der Eiszeit vor rund 200.000 Jahren von den Eismassen aus Skandinavien an den Fundort bei Ostermunzel transportiert wurde. Ein derartiger Findling ist in dieser Region eigentlich sehr ungewöhnlich.
