2018 Chevrolet chevy Volt Preview, Pricing, Release Date The Chevy Volt will largely be a carryover for the 2018 model year. Still relatively fresh from its last redesign, the popular plug-in will get only modest updates. Based on order guides, the most notable changes will be the addition of a Driver Confidence Package on the entry-level LT and a revised color palette. No significant changes are expected in terms of design. Expect the car to continue to feature a 5-passenger liftback design. Interestingly, the Volt's layout possesses an advantage over the Toyota Prius Prime, which sacrificed its rear center seat in the name of efficiency when the model was introduced. For 2018, order guides show indications of revised exterior colors. Siren Red Tintcoat, Citron Green Metallic, Heather Gray Metallic and Pepperdust Metallic appear to have been eliminated. In their place, shoppers will get Cajun Red Tintcoat, Green Mist Metallic and Satin Steel Metallic. As before, expect the Volt's main strength to be its performance when running on electric power. The car is capable of up to 53 miles of EV driving, or 420 miles with the built-in gas generator. For comparison, the Prius Prime is rated at 25 miles under electric power but 640 miles with its gas engine. No major changes are expected from the Volt's current EPA rating of 106 MPGe under electric power or 42 mpg with the gas generator. With routine charging, GM says drivers should be able to travel up to 1,000 miles between fill-ups. source : http://www.carsdirect.com/2018/chevrolet/volt
Just a quick video when I went to test drive the Chevy Bolt at the dealership and comparing it to my older 2013 Volt which I'm very happy with. I'm getting 109 lifetime MPG but would like to go fully electric next time
Electric vehicles are maturing through their adolescence, and just like in middle school, some members of the class are developing faster. Tesla and Chevrolet now have electric cars that will travel more than 200 miles per charge, but the vast majority of battery-powered cars are still limited to a 60-to-90-mile range. In the next decade, the electric car promises to blossom into something that doesn’t require sacrifices in practicality or price when compared with a gas-fueled car, but until the EV’s pimples clear up, we have plug-in hybrids.
