The 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir is dressed for success, with a sweeping body that’s uniquely elegant compared to rivals that tend to be boxier. The competitive set should include models like the Infiniti QX60, Acura MDX and even Audi Q7. Despite sharing the same fundamental structure as a Chevy Traverse, everything you see and touch has been Buick-ified. The body is all new, there are extra features and of course you’re coddled in a much more luxurious cabin. Additionally, power, transmission gears, fuel economy, comfort, cargo capacity, aerodynamics and luxury are all up, while weight is down significantly. This Enclave is around 360 pounds trimmer than last year’s model! Shop the new Buick Enclave: https://cargur.us/m737H The fully redesigned 2018 Buick Enclave offers more space, power, mileage and towing capacity than the first generation, not to mention a slightly tougher, less rounded look. A new flagship Avenir trim packs upgraded looks and materials, including a Black Ice finish on the grille, as well as concierge-ish service from Buick. All 2018 Enclaves support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a range of advanced safety features is available, but only as options to premium trims. All Enclaves use a new 3.6-liter engine and 9-speed transmission to deliver 302 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The base comes only with front-wheel drive, but all other versions offer front- or all-wheel drive. A noise-cancellation system, laminated windshield, and plenty of sound-deadening material ensure the driver shouldn't have any trouble being heard from the back with the exception of a great-sounding optional 20-speaker stereo upgrade. The premium crossover SUV segment is quite competitive, especially with new entries and recent updates to popular models. We took 3 vehicles to see how these popular models compete, and which you should buy if you're looking to haul 7 people comfortably. We knew we wanted to film a Showdown on premium mid-size crossover SUVs after driving the Infiniti QX60 back in November, and continued with the Mazda CX-9 Signature and Buick Enclave Avenir in January, so we made it happen. This is the first episode of TestDrive Showdown featuring 3 vehicles, and also the first episode where all the competitors are the same model year. We took the 2018 Mazda CX-9 Signature at $53,100.00, the 2018 Infiniti QX60 Premium at $53, 645.00, and the 2018 Buick Enclave Avenir at $65,070.00 to see how each performs on the road, as a family hauler, and what gives you the best bang for your buck. This episode of TestDrive Showdown covers as much about each vehicle as possible, but we strongly suggest watching each Spotlight episode prior to the Showdown for all the information about each vehicle.
