It’s a neat experience driving a quiet, smooth, high-tech pure electric car, and Chevrolet’s 2017 Volt provides this with no range or refuelling drawbacks. Uniquely, the "extended-range" electric car acts like a pure EV for all intents and purposes, but once its range – EPA-rated at 53 miles combined – runs out, it morphs into a 42 mpg hybrid able to be fueled at any gas pump. We spend the week with the Bolt. Testing in the city, highway and of course watching our mileage. The Chevy Bolt is the most expensive but has the longest range in it's class. How does this compare to it's competitors?
Fair warning; this video is long, but I don't think it's possible to adequately cover a car like this in 5 minutes. If you have any questions about the Chevy Bolt EV or the Model S, please leave them in the comments and I'll do my best to get an answer to you quickly. The Bolt was obtained as part of a 24 hour test drive so that my wife and I could gather information about our other automotive options ahead of the Model 3 launch. After we filmed this review, GM killed off their first plug-in hybrid model. After a great deal of debate we decided to just go ahead and publish this review as a memorial to the only PHEV with a truly split-down-the-middle personality. Does an electric car even work when it is -12f? Sure! Also a tour of remote start, key fob remote range, and navigation system. Road-tripping in a Volt: http://youtu.be/Fdua40hYdpk
I spend a week with the all-new 2016 Chevy Volt and put it through everyday life tests. With a great new look, extended range and lower price, this car should be on your list if you've ever considered an EV or Hybrid.
This could be the perfect solution for the immediate future.Drive it like an EV but not have to worry if you have an unexpected trip or you forgot to plug it in. Maybe this will give the Tesla Model III a good run.
