Jaguar I-Pace beats Tesla Model X from 0-60-0 in race video New video shows drag race alongside Tesla SUV as Jaguar's first electric car is revealed in production form Jaguar's glitzy reveal of the all-new I-Pace EV in production form is under way, but away from the main event the British carmaker has released a new video demonstrating it winning a drag race with a Tesla Model X (below). The two all-electric SUVs go head-to-head at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez ePrix circuit in Mexico City, ahead of the Formula E race this weekend. Both a 75D and 100D version of the Model X are used in the race, which sees the EVs go from 0-60mph and then brake as hard as they can back to a standstill. The I-Pace is driven by Panasonic Jaguar Racing's Mitch Evans, while the Teslas have former IndyCar champion Tony Kanaan behind the wheel. The I-Pace's official 0-60mph time is 4.5 seconds, with a 298-mile range on the WLTP cycle. Tesla claims the Model X can do the sprint in 4.9 seconds, with an EPA range rating of 242 miles. The I-Pace is on sale now priced from £63,495, including government incentives. The Model X in 75D form costs £76,500, while the 100D is significantly more than that of the I-Pace at £91,230. Tesla introduced its Autopilot feature in 2015. It gives its cars the ability to drive autonomously in some situations. Last year, the company rolled out new hardware on all of its vehicles. The new hardware suite enables the latest iteration of the driving system, which is called Enhanced Autopilot. Tesla cars made since October 2016 come with eight cameras that have a complete, 360-degree range of vision around the car. Each of the cameras can see up to 250 meters away. Twelve ultrasonic sensors make sure the car can recognize and avoid both hard and soft objects. A radar system helps the car see through fog, heavy rain, dust, or a car in front of it. All new Tesla cars have the necessary hardware for Enhanced Autopilot, but customers have to pay to turn the semi-autonomous system on. Enhanced Autopilot costs $5,000 at the time of purchase or a buyer can activate it later for $6,000. When driving on the highway, Enhanced Autopilot can control the vehicle's speed based on the traffic around it, determine whether to stay in or change lanes, move between freeways, and take exits. The system doesn't just work on straightaways, though. It can also handle turns and roads with complicated shapes. The system doesn't just work on straightaways, though. It can also handle turns and roads with complicated shapes.Once you leave the highway, the car will return control to the driver. But once you reach your destination, it can identify open parking spots and control either parallel or perpendicular parking. You can also tell the car to enter or exit your garage without having to be behind the wheel. Once the necessary regulatory conditions and software are available, Tesla CEO Elon Musk says the company's cars have the hardware for complete, autonomous driving. Customers can buy the full self-driving capability for $8,000 at the time of purchase or pay $10,000 to turn on the autonomous system later. The complete self-driving system will use GPS technology to find the optimal route to its given destination. If the car isn't given a destination, it can check the owner's calendar to determine the best destination or take the owner home. Musk says that in full self-driving mode, Teslas will be at least twice as safe as they would be with a human driver at the wheel. Tesla plans to send one of its vehicles on an autonomous, cross-country trip that will give us an indication of how the close its cars are to having full self-driving capabilities. If Musk's early-2018 timeline is correct, that trip may happen sooner than we think. ► TOP Luxury Cars in 2018 : https://goo.gl/YGqfXL ► TOP Auto/Cars Comparison Video: https://goo.gl/1yH7XF ============================================== ► Please contact this email if you have any copyright issues: email@example.com ► If you love cars you should subscribe now to Auto TV the world famous automotive channel: https://goo.gl/SGPqjc #newcars #autotv #cartv #topcar #topsuv
Met up with a subscriber to go over the car like a show and tell. It is hard to get a test drive or even see in a Model 3. But Tesla wants People to buy the car anyway. I think it is good to show the car and be a positive part of the Tesla community to move this company and mission forward. Plus it is fun talking about the car.
